Visiting Old Friends

Today started out with a visit to the school that Scott attended from junior kindergarten through sixth grade, Hanahau'oli.  Scott's class, the class of '75 is known for being a close class.  Word spread that Scott was coming and three other alumni showed up.  Betsy Case, Scott Simmons, and Adam Sutton met us at the school.  We got the full tour of the way the school is set up now.  It was really fun to hear the four of them talk about the things they remembered from going to school there.  One of the many traditions from the school is that each student makes a stepping stone they year that they graduate.  We found the row of stepping stones from Scott's class.  We also found Scott's dad's stepping stone and Scott's brother's stepping stone.  This visit drummed up many memories.

After having lunch with Scott and Adam at the Waikiki Yacht Club, we went back to our room to change for our big night out at Germaine's Luau.  The bus picked us up at 4:30 and we were swept away to a secluded beach.  The food was incredible and the program was awesome.  We were taken on a tour of the different people who came to the Hawaiian Islands.  I think it was really good, but I kinda lost focus when the Tahitian male dancers came out in their loin clothes to do their traditional dance.  Scott was all about the luau girls who wore the coconut bikinis.  It was a good show and I am really glad that we did it.

The time difference is starting to catch up with us.  We can't seem to sleep past 5:30am here and by 8:00pm we are done for the day.  Scott has run the last two mornings and tomorrow I am committed to getting up and walking.  We'll see how I feel about that committment when the time comes.

Adam, Scott, Betsy, and Scott reunited the class of '75 at Hanahou'oli

Getting ready for the Luau to start.

The amazing fire dancers at the Luau.

Love it when they take your picture! This was one time that the background is actually real and not photoshopped in later!
