A Quiet Day

After spending close to three hours on Monday night trying to write and post my blog, only to get an email after posting it that we had gone over our data plan for the month, we decided to scrap the idea of trying to keep up in real-time.  So here are the last four days of our vacation (a week late).  They will be posted separately over the next four days.

Tuesday was a nice, quiet day.  One thing about going on vacation, you always need a vacation when you get home.  That is usually how we travel.  There is so much to see and to do that we rarely take time to stop and enjoy.

Scott and Scotty decided to treat themselves to massages first thing in the morning.  Heck, our hotel had a spa, why not take advantage of it.

Tuesday was also Kiyoko’s 98th birthday.  We stopped by to visit and bring her flowers.

After eating at a roach-coach on the beach, three out of the four of us were not willing to venture too far from our hotel rooms.  How my husband finds these interesting little places to eat or why he is so willing to eat mystery meat out of the side of a trailer is beyond me.

After a while of recuperating from lunch, Scott, Nick, and I did decided to walk next door to our hotel and check out the museum at Fort DeRussy.  This old battery built along the shoreline offered a lot of history of the islands of Hawaii and the military presence since the 1800’s.

How can you visit Waikiki and not have a Mai Tai at the famous Royal Hawaiian Hotel?

I know someone who would absolutely love this hotel.  Everything about the hotel is pink, right down to the waiter’s uniforms.  The Christmas trees in the lobby were 12 feet tall and decorated completely in pink!  We would have taken pictures, but we didn’t want to look too much like tourists.  People who stay at the Royal Hawaiian are above taking touristy pictures.

Oh it was so nice to have a quiet day.
