Where Have You Been

Oh wait, where have we been???  I know it’s been a couple of weeks since we last talked.  It’s been crazy busy, and it’s only going to get busier.  Fortunately, it’s going to be fun busy!

We have officially started our pre-vacation.  Why the pre-vacation?  Well, when we planned our vacation, we planned it in parts, and they didn’t exactly all run together.  Unfortunately we have to go home for a few days in between traveling.

This first part brings us to Leavenworth, Washington.  We love Leavenworth.  We have been here a couple of times before.  The town itself is set up as a Bavarian Village.  They are also known for their outdoor summer theatre.  We came a few years ago to see “The Sound of Music” (which happens to be Scott’s favorite movie).  This year when we got the flyer in the mail listing the summers plays, my favorite movie was being performed.  We have driven nine hours to see “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”.

Along the way, we stopped at the Stonehenge replica along the Columbia Gorge.  What you don’t know is that the people in the background were having a picnic in the parking lot and when they saw us taking a picture, they literally said to each other “we should go get in their picture” and they walked over behind us.  I love other people!

Umm, in case you were wondering where Leavenworth, Washington is, get a map of Washington and then find the exact middle of the state.  Or if that doesn’t work, just look for the large smoke cloud.

Ugh yeah, we are directly under the cloud of smoke.  In fact, you can’t go any farther on Hwy 2 because the road is closed due to the fire.

We are staying at the same place we always stay.  If you know anything about me, you will know that this place is heaven to me.  This building is three stories.  The first story is a Starbucks. (hello, who doesn’t like to start they day with a Starbucks!).  The second floor is a book store; and guess what, if you stay at the Innsbrucker Inn, which happens to be the third floor, you save 10% at the book store.  I really could just spend the whole day in this building!

Being that the Inn is above a book store, all of the rooms at the Inn have a theme.  We have stayed in the Patrick McMannus room and the Secret Garden room.  This time we are staying in the Sherlock Holmes room. (Pictures will be posted later)

Next time we are staying in room #4, The Chocolate Room (decorated around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory )!
